Unemployment rates in Illinois and across the nation are still unacceptably high and many in our community are searching for employment. Below you will find links to job resources and postings as well as some listings I’ve pulled together from various resources. Illinois Department of Employment Security – IDES is your direct link to Illinois workforce services: job placement and referrals, unemployment insurance, employment and training programs, career and labor market information, payroll tax filing, and more! Illinois Job Link – Illinois Job Link is an online database that helps connect skilled job seekers to employers in the State of Illinois. By answering a series of questions about your skills and interests, you will be entered into a searchable database so that employers looking for those kinds of skills can find you. Illinois workNet Center - For the purpose of expanding economic opportunity, the Illinois workNet™ Portal and Program utilizes partnerships and technology to expand seamless and real-time access to workforce development resources aimed at individuals, businesses and workforce professionals. Innovative partnerships span state economic development, workforce development, education agencies, and local workforce investment boards along with their public and private partners including local governments, community colleges and non-profit organizations. Through partnerships that leverage technology, a common vision to plan for the economic futures of communities and provide a seamless array of services is realized. Work 4 Illinois - This site provides posting and application information for current vacancies within the Departments under the jurisdiction of the Governor. America’s Job Exchange for Illinois – America’s Job Exchange is a comprehensive, career management portal designed to “Change Your World” when it comes to finding a new job or filling a position. Developed by the same team that created the first Internet-based job portal, America’s Job Exchange offers trusted, comprehensive, and free career management services to job seekers, employers and states. Chicago Career Tech - Unemployed workers can apply for technology retraining through Chicago Career Tech. Applicants must be a resident of Chicago, have at least a high school diploma or GED, have been unemployeed since 1/1/08 (previous income of $25,000-90,000) and be collecting or have exhausted Illinois unemployment insurance benefits.
